Day 5 - Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

The brightly painted wooden houses of Lunenburg make this fishing town a popular attraction along Nova Scotia's South Shore. Founded in 1753, it is one of Nova Scotia's most historic places, and a UNESCO World Heritage site. A popular attraction is the Fisheries Museum, home to Bluenose II, a replica of Nova Scotia's famous racing schooner of the 1920s. To the northeast lies Peggy's Cove, brimming with seaport charm, and home to famous rock formations and an iconic lighthouse.

Cradled off the craggy coast of Maine lies Mount Desert Island and the charming seaport town of Bar Harbor. Earlier last century, when it was the summer retreat of millionaires, it boasted magnificent estate homes, or "cottages," many of which were completely destroyed by the fire of 1947. However, some things never change. The priceless asset of the island's scenic beauty remains untouched by time. Vistas of emerald-green forests and rugged valleys from the superb vantage point of Mount Cadillac remain just as spectacular, and the rugged shoreline scenery is still as awe inspiring as it ever was.
