Day 5 - Vigo

Arrive: Sat 11 June 2022 / Depart: Sat 11 June 2022

It is hard to believe that in 1702, amid the calm setting of Vigo's fjord-like harbour, an English and Dutch force once fought and defeated the French and Spanish fleets anchored here. A major port city of Galicia, renowned for its seafood, Vigo has an appealing old town with a labyrinth of steep and winding narrow streets and shaded squares. Nearby is Santiago de Compostela, Christendom's third most holy pilgrimage shrine, in whose vast Gothic cathedral lays the body of St James.

Day 6 - Lisbon

Arrive: Sun 12 June 2022 / Depart: Sun 12 June 2022

It was from historic Lisbon, built on seven low hills beside the wide Tagus estuary, that some of Europe's greatest explorers set sail in pursuit of the riches that built Portugal's former global empire in the New World, Africa and the Indies. Memories of that glorious past linger amid the grand avenues and elegant squares of the attractive capital's 18th century lower town - a vivid contrast with the colourful honeycomb of cobbled streets in the old Moorish Alfama quarter and the bohemian mood of the hilly Bairro Alto.

Day 7 - Portimao

Arrive: Mon 13 June 2022 / Depart: Mon 13 June 2022

One of the major resorts on the craggy Atlantic shores of Portugal's sunny Algarve. It boasts a bustling harbour and pedestrian centre abounding in shops, bars and restaurants - while just two mile away is delightful Praia da Rocha, setting of a stunning beach, honey hued cliffs and striking wind-and-sea-sculpted rock formations

Day 8 - Seville

Arrive: Tue 14 June 2022

The town of Seville itself is a gentle walk from the berth. One of the highlights of a visit to Seville is the Cathedral. The world’s largest gothic building, it is lavishly decorated inside and features a number of architectural elements taken from Seville’s Islamic past. Opposite the Cathedral is the Alcazares Reales, a royal palace where thearchitecture and gardens blend Renaissance, Andalusian and Mudejar.

Day 10 - Setubal, Portugal

Arrive: Thu 16 June 2022 / Depart: Thu 16 June 2022

Situated on Portugal’s picturesque west coast, on the northern bank of the Sado River estuary, and harbouring historic links to the Atlantic Ocean, Setubal was once one of Iberia’s most thriving fishing ports. These days, the fishing industry here isn’t quite as large, though still an important part of Portuguese sardine fishing and trade, but the city’s riverside location is still key. Setubal is the perfect starting point for discovering a wealth of natural treasures in the surrounding regions; embark on an exploration of the Sado estuary – perhaps via boat tour – and you could encounter diverse flora and fauna, including bottlenose dolphins, white storks and flamingos, amongst the marshy wetlands. Meanwhile, dramatic coastal parks and superb beaches await discovery just a short distance away too. Alternatively, those who opt to head into the city and explore will be rewarded with plenty of highlights and attractions too; strolling through the pedestrianised old town is the best way to seek-out Setubal’s historical and architectural treasures, such as the 15th century Mosteiro de Jesus and Sao Juliao Church. Those who take the time to climb to the hillside-situated Castelo de Sao Filipe will be immersed in centuries of history, and discover spectacular views of Sado’s gorgeous landscapes below.

Day 11 - Leixoes, Portugal

Arrive: Fri 17 June 2022 / Depart: Fri 17 June 2022

The Port of Leixões (Portuguese: Porto de Leixões, pronounced ) is one of Portugal's major seaports, located 4 km north of the mouth of the Douro River, in Matosinhos municipality, near the city of Porto.
