Uglich is a town in west Russia. The grounds of its Kremlin citadel surround the green-domed Transfiguration Cathedral, which has an ornate wall of icons. Close by, the Church of St. Dmitry on the Blood has vivid frescoes memorializing the death of 16th-century leader Ivan the Terrible’s son. Uglich State Museum exhibits antique weapons and religious artifacts. The Hydropower Museum lies west along the Volga River

Day 7 - Yaroslav

Yaroslavl is a Russian city, northeast of Moscow. It's part of the Golden Ring group of ancient towns. On the grounds of the 12th-century Spaso-Preobrazhensky (Savior Transfiguration) Monastery, the golden-domed Transfiguration Church has 16th-century frescoes. Collections at the Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve include 16th- to 18th-century icons. Multicolored glazed tiles cover the Church of the Epiphany’s exterior.

Day 8 - Goritsy

Goritsy is a small village on the banks of a Volga tributary with a little river port that serves as the access point to Kirillov, home of the Kirillo-Belozersk Monastery.

Kizhi is an island near the geometrical center of the Lake Onega in the Republic of Karelia, Russia. It is elongated from north to south and is about 6 km long, 1 km wide and is about 68 km away from the capital of Karelia, Petrozavodsk.
