Outstanding service, expertise and experience, I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Outstanding service, nothing is a problem, Nicola Boyd seems to go above and beyond top service to solve the many problems that Covid cancellations and rescheduling cruises throws up. She has been excellent and has a great deal of expertise and experience and has booked us cruises in the past, but in the current Covid situation she had to cancel our Alaska trip, dealing with airlines, hotels, train and cruise lines. All of this she took in her stride, and then she helped us book a different cruise from Southampton, and sorted out all the various questions we had to our complete satisfaction. We love cruises and won’t be going anywhere else to book, other than Scotland’s Cruise Centre, and I highly recommend them to friends or anyone looking to book a cruise.

Itinerary for Journey of Japan

Day 1 - Fly UK to Tokyo

Day 2 - Fly UK to Tokyo & Transfer to hotel

Day 3 - Enjoy Tokyo

Day 4 - Enjoy Tokyo

Day 5 - Embark Celebrity Solstice in Tokyo

Even though Tokyo is among the largest, most frenetic cities in the world, it's still able to maintain a great deal of efficiency and charm. Amid the endless buzzing neon signs and the overhead cable webs, Tokyo is home to some of the world's most impressive architecture, stylish shops and 4-star restaurants. But just a short distance outside the clamor of the city is a whole different world. In the surrounding small towns and villages you'll get a glimpse into Japan's rich culture and traditions. Here you'll discover scores of wooden residential homes, ancient temples, shrines and imperial gardens. From the frenzy-filled metropolis to the tranquil bonsai-tree-lined neighborhoods, Tokyo is truly a study in delightful contrasts. Be sure to visit our Shore Excursions page or speak with our onboard Destination Concierge for arrangements to any of these must-sees.

Day 6 - Mt Fuji (Shimizu)

On clear days, particularly in winter, Mount Fuji (Fuji-san in Japanese) is visible from as far as Tokyo, 60 miles away. When Japan’s highest mountain is capped with snow, it’s a picture-postcard perfect volcanic cone. One of the best-known symbols of Japan, this iconic mountain has been considered sacred since ancient times and was even forbidden to women until the early 1900s.

Day 7 - Kobe

Perched on a hillside overlooking the sea, Kobe is one of Japan's most attractive and cosmopolitan cities. Home of the heralded Kobe beef, this small city is easily navigated. Visit the Hatsukura Sake Brewery Museum for a tour or dine in one of the area’s incredible restaurants.

Day 8 - Kyoto (Osaka)

Visit Osaka Aquarium, one of the world's largest aquariums which has over 580 species of sea life on display, or Universal Studios Japan, the company’s first theme park outside of the U.S. Kyoto served as the nation’s capital for more than 1000 years, and is home to 17 different world heritage sites including Kiyomizudera Temple and Heian Jingu Shrine.

Day 9 - Hiroshima

Hiroshima, a modern city on Japan’s Honshu Island, was largely destroyed by an atomic bomb during World War II. Today, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park commemorates the 1945 event. In the park are the ruins of Genbaku Dome, one of the few buildings that was left standing near ground zero. Other prominent sites include Shukkei-en, a formal Japanese garden, and Hiroshima Castle, a fortress surrounded by a moat and a park.

Day 10 - Kagoshima

Sunny Kagoshima lives in the shadow of Sakurajima, an active volcano that last erupted in 2016. Kagoshima balances an air of mystery with a seaside approachability thanks to its location in Southern Japan along the coast and proximity to Sakurajima. In addition to being the capital of the Kagoshima Prefecture in Japan, the city is home to ancient castles and traditional Japanese Gardens that delight locals and visitors alike. Vacationers on an Asia cruise to Kagoshima, Japan can relax at Ibusuki Onsen, the local hot springs, while adventurous travelers will be awed by the volcano’s peaks after a hike to one of the many observation points. There are plenty of experiences for foodies in Kagoshima, too, like taking a tour of Shochu Brewery for sake tastings or enjoying a traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

Day 11 - Nagasaki

Historically rich Nagasaki features beautiful seaside scenery and fabulous nighttime views from its mountain slopes. Secluded hot springs, fascinating museums, and ornate temples live side by side in this exciting city. Ten natural parks grace the area, and unique festivals can be experienced throughout the year. Walk through streets influenced by both Chinese and European cultures in fascinating Nagasaki.

Day 12 - At sea

Day 13 - Okinawa

Life is a little slower in the Okinawa prefecture, where the beaches are impossibly blue and the island offers something for everyone, from outdoor enthusiasts to foodies and everything in between. Scuba divers especially love the Okinawa area and Southwest Islands for its vibrant coral ecosystem and incredible limestone formations. No Asia cruise would be complete without a stop in Okinawa, which has a long history of U.S. armed forces living on the island. Your Okinawa, Japan cruise ship will dock in Naha, the capital city of the Okinawa prefecture. In Naha, you’ll find a fascinating mix of Shinto shrines and landmarks dating back to the 14th century, like Shurijo Castle and the traditional Shikinaen Garden. Or, take an afternoon excursion to the former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters, which is perfectly preserved as it was last left, before enjoying a reflective walk along the Okinawa Peace Park.

Day 14 - Ishigaki,Japan

Often called the most beautiful place in Japan, part of Okinawa Prefecture, Ishigaki Island is where many Tokyoites come to escape the big city. They seek the warm weather, great food, and friendly people. Some stay and adopt the slower pace of life here and maybe open a small café. History buffs visit Yaeyama Museum, near the port, to see local human remains dating back 24,000 years. They also trek to T?rin-ji, a 1614 Buddhist temple that survived the 1771 tsunami to become Okinawa’s oldest wooden building. Get out of town to experience the unspoiled beaches, dazzling waters, coral reefs, palm forests, pineapple plantations, and subtropical vistas that ring the island.

Day 15 - Taipei (Keelung)

A city of contrasts on one of the most diverse and beautiful islands in the South Pacific. Stroll along one of Taipei's lovely new riverside pathways or hike through Yangmingshan National Park with its bamboo forests, majestic mountains and hot springs. In the evening, visit the Shilin Night Market for great shopping and delectable edibles.

Day 16 - At sea

Day 17 - Hong Kong, Disembark & transfer to airport / Fly Hong Kong to UK
