Star Princess is the newest addition to the Princess Cruises fleet – and she’s a stunner. Designed for pretty much every kind of traveller, from families and couples to solo adventurers and wellness lovers, the ship brings together a refreshing mix of modern design, spacious interiors, and just the right amount of luxury. Even though it holds over 4,000 guests, it doesn’t feel overwhelming. Instead, it feels like a floating resort where everything just works – whether you're here to relax, explore, or do a bit of both. Our very own Cruise Expert, Jordan, was on board to experience it for himself firsthand.
From the moment you step on board, Star Princess feels open, light, and connected to the sea. Natural sunlight pours into many of the main areas, and there are ocean views just about everywhere you turn. A real standout is The Dome – a striking glass-topped space that’s perfect for a daytime swim or evening entertainment under the stars. Another favourite spot is the Piazza, a multi-level space right at the heart of the ship. It’s a bit of a social magnet, with cafes, live music, and lots of space to sit back and take it all in.
There’s a real focus on comfort in the cabins, no matter which category you choose. Even the standard rooms are cleverly laid out, with plenty of room to relax – and many have sofas, which gives them a sort of a feel. If you want something more elevated, the Cabana Mini-Suites are a fun option with semi-private outdoor space, while the Sanctuary Collection offers a more exclusive experience, complete with private dining and lounge access. From practical to plush, the ship has a cabin to suit all preferences and budgets.
Food on board covers all the bases, from casual snacks to exquisite fine dining. The three-level main dining room is elegant without being stuffy, and there are plenty of casual spots like The Eatery or the International Cafe for when you want something quick and tasty. For something a bit more special, you can book a table at Crown Grill or Sabatini’s – both well-loved staples in the Princess line-up. There’s also a new concept called Spellbound, blending dining with a bit of theatrical magic. Whatever your taste, there’s always something to look forward to.
There’s always something going on aboard Star Princess, and the entertainment is more than just filler – it’s genuinely well produced. The main theatre, Princess Arena, hosts big stage shows that wouldn’t feel out of place in a city venue. There are also comedy sets, live music, pop-up performances, and themed parties throughout your cruise. The Dome becomes a high-energy venue at night too, often with aerial shows or live DJ sets. Whether you’re in the mood for something high-energy or low-key, the options are there.
If you’re looking to stay active… or slow things down, the ship’s got you covered. The two-level Lotus Spa offers a full treatment menu, plus a thermal suite and hydrotherapy pool. There’s a modern gym with great ocean views, a jogging track, and sports courts if you’re more into movement. And when it’s time to relax, the adults-only Sanctuary area is a peaceful retreat with luxury loungers and optional spa extras. You can do as much or as little as you like – it’s easy to find your own rhythm here.
Families won’t feel like an afterthought on this ship. Kids have their own dedicated clubs and hangout zones that are packed with fun. Firefly Park is great for little ones, while older children and teens have their own spaces like Neon Grove and The Underground. There are also splash areas, family pool time, and plenty of food options to keep even picky eaters happy. It’s a ship that’s genuinely built to handle multi-generational travel without anyone feeling like they’re having to compromise.
If you're staying in one of the suites – especially those in the Sanctuary Collection – expect a few extra comforts to come your way. Think quieter areas, priority perks, and access to a private lounge and dining space. The Sky Suites take things up a notch, with two bedrooms and balconies big enough to host your own sunset party. Whether you’re after more room to stretch out or just like the idea of upgraded service, the suite life on Star Princess gives you that extra bit of breathing space.
Star Princess doesn’t try too hard – and that’s part of the charm. It’s a ship that gets the balance right: plenty to do, plenty of places to do nothing, and the freedom to choose how your day unfolds. Whether you’re chasing live shows, lazy mornings, good food, or great views… It’s all here without any fuss. For anyone after a modern cruise that feels fresh but still easy-going, Star Princess hits the mark.
