Floating betwixt England and France, the Channel Islands chart their own geopolitical course. But all is not butterflies and roses around here; Hitler used Jersey as a massive WWII bulwark, and his observation towers, bunkers and subterranean hospital are enduring reminders. The Tudor ship Mary Rose is also conserved in a dockyard museum.
