Dominated by a fortified citadel, Lipari (Italy) is capital of the seven volcanic Aeolian Islands. Lipari is deservedly famous for its architectural and natural beauty as it embraces some stunning panoramas, pumice stone quarries and a “Castello” built on the ruins of an ancient Greek acropolis.

Day 3 - Amalfi, Italy

Since time immemorial, artists and travellers have fallen under the spell of these tiny villages lost amidst the orange and olive groves, the vineyards and bougainvillea. Amalfi and nearby Ravello, suspended between sea and sky, are the jewels of the Amalfi Coast. There is so much natural beauty to be admired here, including some magnificent gardens.

Day 4 - Ponza

Birthplace of the famous magician who seduced Ulysses, this magnificent volcanic rock at the centre of the Tyrrhenian archipelago is also known as the Island of Circe. One glimpse of Ponza’s wild terrain and you will understand why Ulysses delayed his return to Ithaca. Its rugged coastline of jagged rocks and cliffs, sculpted by the wind and the waves is riddled with caves which the Romans once used for bathing.

Day 5 - Portoferraio,Elba

Arrive: Sat 28 August 2027 / Depart: Sat 28 August 2027

The island of Elba is at the heart of the Tuscan Archipelago and presents a finely chiselled profile sheltering many pristine coves. Roman churches, Medicean fortresses and memories of Napoleon blend into the picture postcard that is Portoferraio (Italy). The town is one of the oldest on the island, the Ligurians, Etruscans and Greeks having shaped its history before it became a Roman colony. Here you can follow in the footsteps of Napoleon as you wind your way through the pastel-coloured houses protected by their two Medicean forts.

Day 6 - Portovenere

Arrive: Sun 29 August 2027 / Depart: Sun 29 August 2027

Day 7 - Portofino

Arrive: Mon 30 August 2027 / Depart: Mon 30 August 2027

A rugged rocky promontory, the Portofino Peninsula is the loveliest spot on the Ligurian Riviera. At its feet lies the pretty port of Portofino (Italy), which has become a seaside destination for the Italian jet-set. A rugged stairway leads to a path into the heart of the luxuriant vegetation above.

Day 8 - Nice (Villefranche)

Arrive: Tue 31 August 2027 at 08:00 / Depart: Tue 31 August 2027

Nice, capital of the Alpes-Maritimes department on the French Riviera, sits on the pebbly shores of the Baie des Anges. Founded by the Greeks and later a retreat for 19th-century European elite, the city has also long attracted artists. Former resident Henri Matisse is honored with a career-spanning collection of paintings at Musée Matisse. Musée Marc Chagall features some of its namesake's major religious works.
