I love the Greek Islands… and exploring them by cruise ship is the best way to do it! There are so many islands that are real ‘hidden gems’ and a must-see on any cruise itinerary. We chose a few ports for truly immersive excursions, including a sunset catamaran trip in Santorini’s Caldera and a Greek wine tasting at a taverna in Mykonos. Truly amazing memories that will stay with me forever.

I love cruising with Virgin Voyages for my own holidays. From the stylish ships and incredible food to the relaxed, adults-only atmosphere, every voyage feels like a perfect escape that blends adventure with comfort. I really appreciate how the crew makes everything feel effortless, and how the entertainment, dining, and destinations consistently exceed expectations. At the other end of the spectrum, I recently returned from a trip with Fred. Olsen and had a fabulous time. There’s something special about their smaller ships – they feel more personal and welcoming and give you the chance to connect with both the crew and fellow guests. I love the thoughtful itineraries that visit unique ports, along with the relaxed, friendly atmosphere on board. Excellent Customer Care
The booking process was excellent, with a streamlined, efficient system. However, what truly stood out was the service and support provided when things did not go to plan due to a thunderstorm. We missed ship embarkation, as the ship had to sail, and we then had to find a flight to the next port, Palma, Majorca. My Cruise Expert, Sophie, informed the cruise company of the situation and arranged overnight accommodation. Sophie stayed in regular contact with us during what was an extremely stressful time. Unfortunately, we had to contact Sophie again on the return journey when our connecting flight was cancelled due to high winds. Sophie arranged transfers and another hotel stay. It was very reassuring to know that someone was checking where we were and how we were getting on. It is only when things go wrong that you truly appreciate the level of support available, and there was support in abundance from Sophie. Once home, there was the issue of compensation and reimbursement of hotel bills. Again, Sophie handled this for us in a supportive, professional, and efficient manner. We are grateful to all the staff involved in the unfortunate situations we found ourselves in – true guardian angels who were there to help. Needless to say, we have already booked another cruise through Sophie for next year, this time with direct flights – so fingers crossed for plain sailing and no more drama!
